There are a variety of coats in German Shepherds. Some GSD are long-haired and some are short-haired. While the traditional color is black and tan, there are sable, all black, blue and liver and white too.
One thing that all German Shepard coats have in common is that they shed profusely. Daily brushing generally helps fight shedding, and German Guards should only be bathed occasionally.
Also credible breeders have different considerations as for just what represents the perfect shepherd. Some breeders concentrate on the correct coat, and movement, some focus on conformation and a particular layer color, while others put heavy emphasis on athleticism, and dexterity. Regardless of all these considerations, German Shepherds are all valued and wonderful companion.
