How old are German Shepherds when their ears stand up?

Every German Shepherd puppy is different. Some puppies will have standing ears at a very young age. While there are some pups that didn’t stand until they were eight months old. Generally, if your GSD’s ears are going to stand naturally, they’ll be up between four to seven months of age, after their adult teeth have came in.

What can you do to ensure that your GSD’s ears will stand naturally? One of the most important things to remember is to keep your hands off of them. As much as you’re delighted to play with, fold, and fondle his ears, do not give in. Also, some research suggest that massaging the base of your young GSD’s ears can help. However, do not play with the actual ears themselves.
