Coat Colors of German Shepherds
German Shepherds come in various beautiful colors, such as Black & Tan, Black & Red, Black & Silver/Cream, Black, White, Sable, Liver, and Blue.
Among all the colors, black and tan as well as black and red GSDs are said to be the most preferred. These two coat colors are most popular in show lines because they most accurately represent their breed.
There are also pure white and pure black German Shepherds. In the past, white GSDs are the most discriminated color and many white GSDs were even killed by breeders. Today, more and more people are appreciating the all white GSD as they are likely to be less aggressive compared to the traditional colored Shepherds.
On the other hand, pure black Shepherds are now being accepted for show. Also, more people who are loyal to the breed are starting to like the all black GSD.
The black and silver/cream may not be as preferred but they many owners are still amused by their beauty.
The sable color can be easily identified by as each hair have two or more colors. Sable is a dominant gene and is quite common.
Blue colored Shepherds are still not acceptable for show. And like the white GSDs, Blue Shepherds were severely unwanted in the past that they were killed.
Liver or can be accurately described as brown, ia another unwanted color of GSD in the past. Liver coloring is also not acceptable for show.
Regardless of coat colors, GSD lovers would agree that this breed is worthy of genuine love and care.
