Keeping Your GSD Busy
Dogs like humans can get bored too. And when they are bored, they are usually destructive! Yes, many behavior problems in dogs are caused by boredom. When your energetic buddy gets bored, he’ll surely look for ways to entertain himself. The entertainment he’ll think of is usually inappropriate chewing, excessive barking, or digging holes.
As many trainers would say, a tired dog is generally a good dog. Well, in that case you have to make sure your pooch is always busy.
You can provide him with hard-rubber bones for chewing. He’ll certainly gnaw for hours on that rubber bone. Also, another way to keep things interesting for your beloved GSD is is to rotate his favorite toys. Every other day try picking up a few of his toys and then add some new ones. Dogs love new and interesting things!
You can also add short training sessions to your pet’s daily routine. And don’t forget to find time to play with him. You can even let him play with other well-behaved dogs to relieve his boredom as well as have enough exercise.
