This 17-month-old German Shepherd knows how to protect his toy. And yes, he’s playing with a full size basketball. Thanks to Angela Autrey Southard for sharing!
Why Dogs Love Chasing Balls
Chasing balls comes naturally to most of our canine friends. Itâs instinctual for them to chase small things (and perhaps even bigger things). Our dogs are just born with the instinct to run and chase.
When choosing the right ball for your dog you should consider its color. It is recommended that you get him some brightly colored balls rather than those with muted tone. It will be easier for them to see and retrieve the ball as bright colors will stand out better in any background.
Also, make sure the ball you get your GSG is not too large or too small for him. If itâs too big, he might not get a good grip on it. Generally, tennis balls are great for playing fetch with your pal. You may also want to use racket balls, which are smaller than tennis balls and squishier. Just make sure that whatever you choose, it is safe for your beloved dog.
