How to Socialize an Adult Dog

Trying to find friends for beloved dog may not be easy. However, it’s good for your pal to interact with other dogs too. You need to consider that socializing an adult dog would be rather different than socializing a young pup. Young dogs are generally accepting of new things. You can teach them to feel comfortable around them easily.

Here are some things you can do to help your adult dog socialize with other dogs.

First, you should take your adult dog out to observe. The keyword there is observe. Simply take him to a dog park but do not go in immediately. Let him watch the other dogs. Then every time another dog comes near the fence, offer your buddy some treats. This will help create a positive association with other dogs.

When you walk your dog and you come across another dog, do not jerk on the lead or yell at your dog. This will only reinforce a negative experience. You can just distract your dog with a treat and praise him when he pays attention to you.

Remember, when socializing an adult dog it is critical that you make each new experience a positive one. yelling at your dog will only create a more nervous dog.
