Lexie, the energetic and lovely German Shepherd is not contented with her kiddy pool. She still wants to go to the pond for a swim. She surely has some great swimming skills!

Keeping Your GSD Safe From Outdoor Swim Dangers
If you have a dog who loves to swim in ponds, lakes, and other bodies of water, beware of the dangers such as toxic algae and other parasites. Summer heat means over-growth of algae, particularly those that can harm your beloved pooch. Also, dogs who drink water contaminated with parasites and other toxins may suffer from serious illness.
Consider that many ponds and other small bodies of stagnant water may contain many waterborne parasites and algae that can make your furry baby sick. Depending on the exposure, your dog may suffer from symptoms, such as mild diarrhea, severe thirst and vomiting. This could lead to muscular paralysis, kidney failure and even death.
So when you take your pal out for a good swim, be sure to bring a bottle of fresh water for him to quench his thirst and prevent him from drinking pond or lake water. Also, be cautious of nasty bugs as your pet may ingest them as well. If ever you notice signs of infection, seek veterinary care as soon as possible.
