Meet this gorgeous black German Shepherd, Max. Seems like he’s not a fan of snow, or maybe just in this picture. Thanks to Karen Douglas for sharing!

Did you know…
Winter season may mean that your furry pal may not be so crazy about walking outside. Apparently, not all dogs have thick fur. It can be hard for smaller pets to wade through deep snow. If they ingest it, and the roadway salt used to thaw ice on roads and sidewalks has chemicals that can irritate paws, it could make your GSD sick.
To manage the cool, an easy remedy is to put a coat on the pet dog. Pay attention if your pet is shivering, maybe an indicator of hypothermia. Pets could also suffer from frostbite if left outside for a long time.
Shielding their delicate paws is more of a challenge. Some owners try to place shoes on their pets to help them walk in the snow. However, some dogs refuse to walk with shoes.
There are also some creams and balms that could shield your dog’s paws from being irritated by roadway salt.
As a responsible dog owner, you should consider utilizing non-toxic ice-melt products as opposed to salt on on sidewalks and driveways to help reduce your pet’s contact with harmful chemicals.
