Keeping Your Dog Safe at the Beach

Taking your beloved Shepherd to the beach can be a wonderful experience, given that you’re careful and plan things right.

Prevent overheating. Ensure to take breaks frequently. Get your pal out of the sun and into a cooler area every 30 minutes or so. Since dogs don’t have sweat glands, they can quickly overheat, particularly if you walk on the beach in the middle of the day. You can bring a large beach umbrella too. Always be wary of overheating signs such ass drooling, rapid heartbeat and heavy panting. Offer fresh water every 10 to 15 minutes so he won’t be tempted to drink seawater, which could dehydrate him more.

Water safety. If your buddy is not used to ocean swimming, you must only introduce him to waves on a calm day. Powerful waves can knock your dog off his feet. But don’t worry as canines are natural swimmers as long as you give him enough time and guide him to keep him safe.
