Addressing Unwanted Behavior of an Attention-Seeker GSD

Attention seeking behaviors are very much common dog behavior problems. Nevertheless, it is natural for our canine friends to display some type of attention-seeking behavior patterns. In fact many dogs that have mild cases don’t get corrected as owners have learned to live with them.

How do they start? There are several causes of attention seeking behavior in dogs. The most common are:

  • Lack of physical activities
  • Boredom
  • Nervousness

If you don’t get to satisfy your pal’s natural needs, you are cultivating unwanted behavior issues. So the best solution is to know exactly what the cause is and ensure you satisfy your dog’s mental and physical needs.

Also, to correct attention seeking behaviors you need to remove the reward that is fueling your dog for it. You must ignore him as much as possible. This doesn’t mean that you’ll not pay any attention to him, but what you’ll ignore is the unwanted behavior while your dog is doing it. When he stops, reward him immediately.

Importantly, the rules for correcting these behaviors must be strictly followed by all family members and anyone who comes to your home.
